MI PROPIO ÍTACA

No puedo empezar esta entrada sino anunciando que me he enamorado de Gold Coast.

I cannot start this post but announcing that I have fallen in love with the Gold Coast.

Me he enamorado de sus palmeras, sus casitas de película, la amabilidad de su gente, su cielo azul y las preciosas vistas a las entradas del mar que te encuentras por sorpresa al girar cada esquina.

I have fallen in love with its palm trees, its houses like from the movies, the kindness of its people, its blue sky and the beautiful views of the sea that you can find by surprise in any corner.

Me he enamorado de la combinación de altos y modernos edificios que dejan pasar los rayos del sol al mismo tiempo que son capaces de alojar zonas verdes a sus pies y guiar a los australianos hacia la playa de Surfers’ Paradise.

I have fallen in love with the combination of high modern buildings that let the sun rays pass through them, at the same time that you can find green areas at the bottom to guide you to Surfers’ Paradise.

Surfers’ Paradise es el núcleo de la ciudad. Gold Coast posee numerosas playas donde los australianos y turistas van a surfear -en una de las cuales yo ya hice el intento de dominar las olas-, de ahí su nombre. Protagonizado por altos pero bonitos edificios, reúne la zona comercial y turística de Gold Coast y transmite a todas horas un aire de relax y diversión.

Surfer’s Paradise is the nucleus of the city.  Gold Coast has many beaches where Australians and tourists go surfing -in one of them I attempted to do so-, hence its name. In addition, Surfers’ Paradise is mainly highlighted by its tall but beautiful buildings that contain the commercial and touristic area of the Gold Coast. It transmits a good feeling of relax and entertainment!

Aun así, yo no me quedo con esta idea que muchos australianos tienen de Gold Coast. Para mí Gold Coast no es la ciudad aussie de ensueño para todos los amantes del surf.

Nevertheless I don’t personally keep this idea of the Gold Coast as many Australians may do. For me, the Gold Coast is not the aussie paradise city for every surf lover.

Para mí Gold Coast ha sido mi bienvenida a Australia y mi pequeño pero gran hogar por una semana; ha sido la protagonista de todas mis primeras vivencias en la otra punta del mundo.

For me, the Gold Coast has been my welcome to Australia and my little but great home for a week; it has been the main character of all the first experiences I have had on the other side of the world.

Y aunque digan que los australianos son muy amables pero difíciles de entablar amistad, puede que esto sea verdad, pero lo que sí que he aprendido aquí es cuando quieres disfrutar como un niño, siempre habrá otro niño que quiera disfrutar contigo.

And even though many people say that Australians are very kind but difficult to establish a friendship with them, maybe this is true, but what I have truly learnt here is that when you want to enjoy as a child, there will always be another child who wants to enjoy by your side.
